Here's an extremely rare jonesii clone that I've been trying to acquire for literally 20 years and now have finally had a chance to grow one! I had heard obscure mentions of the existence of this clone here and there starting in the late 1990's/early 2000's, and in one seemingly lucky case, another grower showed me a picture of their plant (this was roughly around 2010, give or take two years, I can't remember). Of course, I inquired if they have any spare divisions but their response was a firm no, and they didn't seem interested in allowing anyone else to acquire a division. I guess some people prefer to be the only ones to have a certain clone or division, which makes their collection more unique than others. My mindset is the opposite: I prefer that everyone has a division of anything that I have in the collection so that the day that I'm 6 feet under (or maybe a week or two before that, since it usually takes time to get buried LOL), even if my collection goes down with me, it won't matter because everything in the collection over the course of my life will have been distributed and backed up into multiple collections throughout the planet.
Anyways, fast forward approximately 10 years later, I finally acquired one. GOSH! Yes, of course, I will be propagating this plant and it will soon be readily available for those who are in California. Regretfully, the Endangered species act prohibits interstate trade unless you get permits, which I lack both the aptitude and political interest to pursue. Getting those permits are mostly about playing games, having academic intelligence, and playing politics. I ain't interested in getting involved in nun uh dat!
Interestingly, the more I look at this Henderson Co, NC jonesii clone, the more it reminds me of the old california Carnivores clone (CC's clone) that I have in the collection, which can very well be from the same location but there's no way to verify that so I won't make such claims. Here's a link to a thread on CC's clone): sarracenia.proboards.com/thread/372/jonesii-cali-carnivores-clone
Anyways, this Henderson Co, NC, photos taken 8/23/24:
in a few weeks, the jonesii's will be pumping out their fall traps and I'll for sure take some photos and update this thread, so stay tuned!
