Thank you almightydolla! That site is definitely looking a bit sparse this year compared to previous years.....
I've noticed this as well. In addition to the last two consecutive years having very droughty winters/springs, the last prescribed fire (August 2016) in that management compartment was implemented by the USFS was just two days following 4" of rain dropped by a weak tropical system. The result was a very wimpy burn that had no beneficial ecological effects on the wetter areas of the surrounding landscape. The well-worn footpath that parallels the upper portion of the red tube site also contributed to the fire's failure to penetrate (you can see this in my photo here).
sanguinearocks101: What are good plants to make hybrids with S. luecophylla with? Im looking for dark colors.

adaetz100: Sarracenia purpurea tends to add a lot of red/purple to its offspring, but there are some lovely dark red flava x leucophylla crosses too. Look up 'Royal Ruby' if you're not familiar with it already--it's a natural flava x leuco hybrid
