IF you ever have a chance to visit California Carnivores, you can always figure out what Damon Collingsworth is obsessing about. For one, their Nepenthes collection has NEVER been so extensive and amazing:they have thousands of plants, and every single clone is something worth keeping. IF you can visit, it's worth a trip!
On a similar note, Damon has amassed a RIDICULOUS venus fly trap collection, and quite possibly has created a clone that gets even BIGGER than DCXL and B52! Keep an eye out in the future as California Carnivores is working to make all of these venus fly trap clones available to us.
While you go through the photos: Which venus fly trap clone or clones do you like the most and why?
Damon in the foreground, and my homie Axel in the background. Axel: regret making that face for the pic? LOL
Overview:every single pot is a different, unique cultivar or future cultivar. There must be hundreds here:
I couldn't possibly remember or even recognize half of these clones (haven't even heard of a lot of them), so I tried to take pictures to include the label. In this case, here's FTS purple ambush:
Dionaea 'Black star' anyone?!! What a beauty:
Dionaea '016 Dentate' something or other? This is clearly a red plant of some sort:
Dionaea 'Triton'?
Dionaea 'Fuzzy teeth':
Dionaea 'Umgerkrempelt'. Crazy story: Damon literally paid an arm and a leg for this, and he got the smallest piece you could possibly think of, about 3 years ago. It's probably quadrupled in size, but still isn't adult sized! He mentioned this was the biggest disappointment he's had out of any of the new clones he has acquired. Suppose that particular vendor overseas has a different perspective when it comes to business ethics:
I think this is an unnamed clone, but has a very strange shaped trap. Label says very thin petiole, orangey trap:
Same clone, zoomed out:
Didn't get the name of this one, but it's "cute":
Dionaea '020 large teeth clone':may get a cultivar name in the future:
Dionaea 'Brutal Shark...something, can't read the rest of the label':
Dionaea 'MEGATRAPS'-I like this one, I think this is also known as G17:
D. 'large teeth'-unnamed cultivar:
A bunch of beauties:
D. 'DCXL':
closeup of DCXL, it's pretty darn BIG:
D. 'moon trap':
another shot of moon trap:
Here's the biggest one, although it can get bigger than this:
It's not only the biggest, but check out how long those petioles are!!
Close up of the monster:
D. 'Ginormous':
And last but not least, old faithful D. 'B-52':
