My first Sarracenia throwing up its first fall pitcher. I got it at Garden in the Woods in Framingham back in April . They've got a small bog full of sarrs and drosera.
The story is a familiar one had a VFT when I was a wee lad. I have no idea what happened with it I assume it met its demise . Anyways I m getting an ice cream at the ice cream shop that's also a local nursery place.
I see the fabled Venus Fly Trap on the counter . I bought three of them death cubes. That night I go online doing research on how to care for it so it wouldn't die on me I had a vision of a pot full of hungry traps I ended up buying a dozen more death cubes during the next few weeks and here's my pot of death
I'm floored by finding out carnivorous plants actually existed in Massachusetts. I see that they have them on display a half hour away I went for a visit to Garden in the Woods and loved seeing all those tough as nails sarracenia purpura. Throwing up those flower stalks everywhere. They had 4 plants for sale I brought my first sarracenia Leuo home that day. A few weeks later wanted more I saw Amazon had some for cheap. I quickly realized it was gonna take years to get them to the size I saw in the bog. I still loved em and I realized this is probably something I m going to do the rest of my life and started getting more plants. I ve got two totes and a 5 gallon bucket full of plants now. It's a great ride so far taken a few days ago.. You can see the fall pitcher towering over everything else. Spring pitchers were more or less around 23-26 inches with a lot of noob mistakes such as repotting it too deep/ repotting too many times 4 I think and moving the plant around and have it grow bent Etc I kinda jumped in this world and went deep down the hole kinda of I have a better idea on how to look after em . I grow outside in front of the driveway facing East and it gets full sun all day pretty much. New pitchers don't suffer from sunburnt like some of my additions I just threw em out there without hardening them off another greenhorn learning experience ha ha I give them no shade whatsover . My previous growing space vanished that also faced east had partial afternoon shade from the shadow of the house due to complaints to the landlord from the upstairs tentants :rolls eyes: I m begging to think I bought s bunch of them from the admin ? Hey admin did you send out a bunch of plants to mass via eBay a few weeks ago ? If so you ve found the person who got em
I'm happy to stop lurking and formally introduce myself. I'm eager to learn from the best .. You guys are full of win!
Thank you.
