Hey all. I'm relatively new this— I graduated from college last December, so I've been using that time I used to spend on papers and research on carnivorous plants instead. Sarracenia quickly became my favorite. I think I have just shy of three dozen now (and some seeds in the fridge) after getting my first plant in March. I keep coming across this forum while reading about these plants and I thought I'd say hi!
I can't take credit for these with how little time I've had them, but here are a few of my favorites from my collection:
This is my very first, Sarracenia ( x ‘Pink Thing’ ) x leucophylla from California Carnivores. It was still dormant when I received it and the friends I tried to show it to were very confused. I kept getting asked "and how much did you pay for that thing?". That stopped pretty quickly once it put up its first few pitchers, shown above. I don't have a more recent picture but it's still looking good.
The rest of its pitchers didn't make it through shipping unfortunately, but I'm excited for this I got this Oreophila division from another California grower. I hadn't seen any pictures of their plants, and I thought that Oreos tended to be more plain-looking, so I was very pleasantly surprised to open the package and see the veining on this one.
And here's one of my most recent purchases, from the BACPS sale two weeks ago. The vendor this plant came from I'm pretty sure was named Phil (looks like that'd be Phil Faulisi, checking the vendor list?). Very nice guy. I'd been wanting to get my hands on a hybrid like this and was happy to find one, very interested to see how it grows. That third pitcher has already opened up since these images were taken.
BACPS in general was so much fun. While researching a different hybrid that I bought there, I actually found a thread on this very forum that seems to be detailing that exact clone all the way from seed. Very cool to see.
Looking forward to chatting more about these great plants!
