Hi all,
Though I would share this...
- Seeds obtained from Carl in 2018 (see his Website : zone6b.wordpress.com/about/ )
- they are OP Waccamaw seeds. Only purpurea and flava were flowering at that time (although there is no x catesbaei in the batch)
- growing condition was not homogeneous which could partly explain that some plants are bigger than other
- tried growing some seedlings in live sphagnum moss... failure... they just stopped growing.
- this summer's weather was a bit odd... we had an early spring and it felt like summer early May... after a while of summer like temperature, I decided to take the plants out... then temperature dropped around 5°C (41°F) and sometimes below freezing point... expecting temperature to rise up, I waited and waited... We finally got some warm temperature in June, but then, the plants seemed dormant ... When they started to grow again, by mid June, half of the growing season was already gone...
- There is a total of about 55 plants \ clones
- as of this summer,
- 3 with atropurpurea pattern ( + 2 plants with similar potential to be confirmed)
- 3 with rubricorpora pattern ( + 3 plants with similar potential to be confirmed)
- 18 with cuprea pattern (from very pale to very dark red lid top... )
- 2 with rugelii pattern
- the rest are green, variously veined
- some plants have the panhandle slow growth pattern (about 10)
- most have regular growth speed (about 35)
- then again, growth pattern is hard to ascertain since they haven't had a normal growing season...
a few thoughts :
- I was expecting lots of red but seems like Carolina's red isn't a dominant trait... and or a polygenic trait...
- there is a high frequency of cuprea qualities in this F1 batch...
- pitchers color pattern doesn't seem as stable

- wonder if the waccamaw parent has some outbreeding enhancement...
Some pictures taken on the fly... enjoy.

Amongst the plants, 2 stood out...
This first one is probably a crossing with a panhandle plant... In my culture condition, I never get pitchers with large opening...

The second clone seems to be the closest to the waccamaw parent.
