Important note for the admin: I incorrectly posted this under "General" and reposted it here. Feel free to delete the old thread, as this is where it should be. Thanks!
I was reminded the other day to renew my ICPS membership before it expired, and it got me thinking. I live in central Alabama and to my best knowledge, there aren't any carnivorous plant societies for any of the southeast (if I am mistaken, please correct me on this!!). It's kind of ironic since the southeast is the 'hotspot' for CP's, and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in starting a carnivorous plant society for our area. It would of course encompass all of the southeast and yearly meet ups could be hosted at varying locations, as well as possibly a monthly newsletter going out. Any suggestions and ideas are welcome! Although I am in this hobby at a young age, I am very passionate about CP conservation and I think that if a new CP society were to get started, it could very well help conservation efforts through trade, as well as connect hobbyists.
If ANYONE is interested in starting a project like this, or if there would be interest in joining a CP society for this area, please let me know! I would love to see something like this get started, especially since we don't have anything for growers to really "get involved" in the southeast. If this were to get started and enough people were to join, eventually we could become a non-profit organization and start accepting donations without tax, which would go to conservation efforts.
If there is any serious interest at all in a project like this, please let me know! PM's are welcomed as well!
Thanks,
Noah Yawn
