mcmcnair, I love the your design! I'm partial to the second one. If you could make it look like the pitchers were growing out of the forum name it would be perfect and symbolize that beautiful Sarracenia are grown out of the knowledge gained from this wonderful forum. If you are unable to do so via the computer I can easily do so by hand for you. Also, The QR code is a good idea, but unnecessary. I think it will take away from the design, plus it's really easy to google sarracenia forum
Welcome to the forum mcmcnair! We need to thank heatherfeather for bringing you and your talent here. I love all your designs and can't wait to see what you come up with for this forum if you decide to make a design. I am also trying to make a design, but I am finding out it's harder to draw Sarracenia than it looks.
I had a little time today to add to my design idea. It's still way early in the beginning phase and I'm slowly learning how to draw these beautiful plants. I made the lettering in the flava much easier to read. I added a leuc., but need to work on the windows. Also added a rosea, but need to work on the veins. Also, started a flower. This is a pic of my rough draft and notes:
Let me know which letters in the flava are still hard to see for you. Personally, I see them all clearly, but I drew them so of course I can see them
This looks great naturenuts! I can really see the words better now. you might want to make a rough sketch of what it would look like with different words on separate pitchers. Great job!
WOW. That. looks. epic. I like the second one the best. one thing I would reccomend ( if its not too hard) is to turn the 'head' of the minor inwards. I think it would look even better if naturenuts penned in some roots wrapping around the 'The Sarracenia Forum' words.
Naturenuts, moving the word to make it look more like roots is easy, but will make the words hard to read. Davidgreen, switching the minor head inwards is next to impossible at this point and would require at least another two hours of work which I really don't have time for. As far as printing t-shirts goes, hand-drawn designs have to be digitized for printing which takes time, at least if they are going to be screen printed. If you plan on just going with heat transfer then there isn't a problem, but heat transfered shirts fade much faster than screen printed shirts. There is also direct to garment printing but this also fades quickly when compared to screen printing.
Can you tell I've done this a few time
Anyway, I love everyone's designs and I think a vote is a great idea. Good luck to everyone!
I love all the entries that have been posted but I would have to say my favorite is mcmcnair's logo number one that has the words between the pitchers. I like davidgreen's ideas of a yearly t-shirt competition. There are too many good designs to see some go to waste.
I prefer larges but can work with extra-larges if they aren't excessively baggy.

I have to say I'm partial to rmeyer's drawing, though if the pattern of that could somehow be incorporated into a design like mcmcnair's #2, that would be stellar! I kind of like the idea of forming the words there as roots, but I agree that might make them a bit hard to read.
Those who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones that do.

Many people have messaged me saying they wish to submit designs but need time to work on them. I myself am working on a design too! However if we continue the time to submit designs indefinitely, the shirt will never happen!
So lets set a date, lets say... 3 weeks from today, March 20th, as the last day to submit a design for the t-shirt. After that all the designs will be put into a new thread for voting!
The voting will be anonymous, and the results will not be shown until the END of the voting period. I will put a full two weeks for voting, so everyone can discuss in the thread, if they need help making decisions. Then, afterwards, we will have many other things to discuss (like who will receive the profits, how much to sell shirts for, what should we mention on the blurb for teespring). Most of which will also be decided by voting!
How does this sound? Everyone okay with it?
Creator of the forums! Yeah, I know I was away for a while, but I am back!!!

adaetz100: Sarracenia purpurea tends to add a lot of red/purple to its offspring, but there are some lovely dark red flava x leucophylla crosses too. Look up 'Royal Ruby' if you're not familiar with it already--it's a natural flava x leuco hybrid
