goodkoalie: Got my order from Fred this week, got a AF rubra gulfensis, a AF leuco, a S. minor "fat boy" and a alata nigrapurpurea. I got a flava cupurea as a freebie. Jan 21, 2015 22:10:11 GMT -5
goodkoalie: I also got my Adrian slack form CC from my dad for XMAS. it has two growth points. :) Jan 21, 2015 22:10:38 GMT -5
ErrorEN: Always nice to get freebies :D Jan 22, 2015 22:51:09 GMT -5
katyadog1: Yeah, I got a rubicorpa free from Mike. He somehow knew I was looking for a rubicorpa. :) Jan 24, 2015 9:23:01 GMT -5
katyadog1: And goodkoalie, what is an AF leuco? Some variant or something? I guess what I'm saying is, what does the AF stand for? Jan 24, 2015 9:25:20 GMT -5
Naturenuts: , AF stands for anthocyanin free. Anthocyanin is the pigment in Sarrs that give them the red coloring. AF Sarrs are usually bright green or yellow and seem to glow. AF plants are all the rage right now. Jan 24, 2015 11:05:15 GMT -5
katyadog1: Ah, I looked it up. You either like them or you don't. For me, it's like mutants, they should be exterminated. Leucophylla 'Bris'? *shudder* Jan 25, 2015 13:32:53 GMT -5 *
katyadog1: Except Hurricane Creek white. That is one beautiful leuco. But I understand why people like those type of plants. Jan 25, 2015 13:35:18 GMT -5
ErrorEN: I don't mind Leucophylla 'Bris' that much if you just think of it as a discount Heli. The notion of exterminating perceived "mutants" seems somewhat familiar (And not in the good way). Jan 25, 2015 15:08:19 GMT -5 *
Naturenuts: HCW isn't an AF plant. It will on an occasion produce red pigment and will always produce a red pigment around damage on the Jan 25, 2015 17:45:54 GMT -5
Naturenuts: ...pitchers. Once you see an AF plant in person you'll be hooked on them. Their color is soooo bright in person. Jan 25, 2015 17:47:52 GMT -5
katyadog1: Oh, HCW is not AF? Did not know that. Hmm, maybe I need to get me an AF to see how they are for myself. :) Jan 26, 2015 16:08:14 GMT -5
katyadog1: ErrorEn, I was kidding about extermination. ;) I like weird flytraps like wacky traps, but I don't like the Sarr mutants. Likewise, there are some Sarr growers who are horrified by the flytrap mutants while liking the sarr mutants. Jan 26, 2015 16:10:04 GMT -5
goodkoalie: I used to hate the hype around AF sarrs, but as soon as i got my purp f. heterophylla last year, i fell in love. Jan 26, 2015 22:07:08 GMT -5
goodkoalie: the price i have seen 'bris' go for is so expensive. If you know where to look or trade, you can get a heli for cheap. I got a huge one from cf for 40.00 Jan 26, 2015 22:08:21 GMT -5
goodkoalie: i also got a rubricopora liberty co as my freebie to. This year alone, i have 2 liberty co. ones, and 3 from bay co, FL from mike :) Jan 26, 2015 22:09:16 GMT -5
goodkoalie: pics of some of my AF plants Jan 26, 2015 22:15:18 GMT -5 *
ErrorEN: lol Andrew by discount I didn't intend to imply inexpensive. xD But I can see how that is misleading. Jan 26, 2015 22:37:10 GMT -5
ErrorEN: Neat AF! I prefer my plants with some color to them but I can see the appeal. Jan 26, 2015 22:42:42 GMT -5
katyadog1: Yeah, I imagine it might be nice to have like a ring of AF purps around a pattern of red purps. Would contrast nicely, but I like veins in my sarrs. :) Nice pictures and blog, Goodkoalie! Jan 27, 2015 10:47:26 GMT -5
