On a separate note, is S. x "Waccamaw" in cultivation in the U.S.? It looks much more vigorous than most red-tube forms. I'd love to get one. We do have import permits if any of the New Zealand growers have them available too.

Not sure if this is too late, but yes it is available now in the US and A but in such short supply making it one of the most expensive S. Flava. In fact meizzwang carries it but they're in a waitlist status.

I did a little experiment last year at a nursery open house with the Waccamaw. I had it mixed in with other Atropurpurea forms in a pool. I asked some experienced growers to see if they could pick it out. Some could, and some couldn't I guess it just goes to show that many of the red-tubes look different at different times of year, and can be very pretty.

I missed out last year but was lucky enough to get a nice specimen this year!
