Yet another clone of S. minor var. okefenokeensis from the extirpated population in Ware Co, GA. Clone Q generally produces coppery heads, and one thing I noticed is the traps look more shapely when they are giant in comparison to when they are smaller. This is a relatively fast growing plant, and it consistently is giant every year there are favorable growing conditions. The rhizome on the mother plant is ridiculously big-same can be said for all okee giant plants with giant traps.
Photo taken 5/25/13-these traps are actually pretty big this year, but they have been bigger:
I think I remember this clone of yours from a previous posting somewhere. I think I said something about the nectar roll looking as though it wore as much lipstick as a very old aunt of mine. If it's a different clone then my dear departed aunt has two lookalikes!
Yes, you're right! I should've known - my aunty never had red hair.....
Both lovely plants by the way Mike. Thanks for posting. I'm enjoying all the pics of fresh new pitchers. Beats the hell out of looking at a bunch of dessicated leaves that need removing. One of the true joys of growing Sarracenia: clip...clip,clip...clip...

kayota: how have I only just discovered this forum when I've been raising CPs for 15 years? I'm just getting back into it after accidentally leaving my plants with a crappy roommate and being unable to get them back

kayota: So all I have rn is S. oreophila but I saw a lovely leucophylla from a local grower at a garden center the other day so I'm gonna pick that up when I can

summit: Hey guys, I'm about to sow some seeds and I was curious to know what everyone thinks 'too hot' for Sarracenia seeds would be? Having them in the dome bumps up the temps a bit.

DirtyDivisions: summit I’ve been fine at a constant 95° F under the dome. Once the tiny seedlings have two pitchers I remove the dome and temps go down.

summit: @dirtydivisions Thanks for that! I'm sitting around 87-88F with the dome fully sealed but I wasn't doing that and sacrificing humidity to keep it cooler but I'll go ahead and close it down now!
