In my opinion, Sarracenia are some of the sexiest plants around! Their vulgar contrasts in color, taboo eating habits (for a plant), and beautifully delicate flowers have everything I am looking for in a plant.
But some Sarracenia aren't satisfied with having erect pitchers all the time. Some Sarracenia decide to go a step further and actually flirt with you, by showing you their kinky lips
Why does this phenomena happen in our beloved plants? What causes it? Can I get rid of it while a pitcher is still developing? What if the pitcher is fully grown? And, can i induce it in pitcher yet to come?
Not that I remember, but I also wasn't paying any particular attention to that plant. The trait seems to show up most often for me in oreophila and its hybrids' early spring pitchers, later pitchers form normally.
sanguinearocks101: What are good plants to make hybrids with S. luecophylla with? Im looking for dark colors.

adaetz100: Sarracenia purpurea tends to add a lot of red/purple to its offspring, but there are some lovely dark red flava x leucophylla crosses too. Look up 'Royal Ruby' if you're not familiar with it already--it's a natural flava x leuco hybrid
