One of my favorite things about Sarracenia breeding is the constant surprises - that is, plants not behaving how you think they will with respect to their offspring. Sometimes it's a bummer and you learn what not to do, but many times I'm blown away by unexpected traits and attributes popping up. MK F88 is best known for it's spectacular red mouth and overall presence, but turns out it breeds some insane veins! I wasn't expecting it to contribute much in the veins department, but the select clones from this cross are more ornate than the IBV genetics on the other side of the cross. They also captured the pigment intensity of the BV genetics nicely as well. The next two pics are of the Mega Dark select clone, spring traps. They are basically equally good, just with different strengths. iona: Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone had extra Pinguicula grandiflora plants or seeds to spare, and they are so difficult to get in the US but think it’d be a great addition to my big garden.
