I want to thank you all very much for the money that was donated to Meadowview as part of the fall 2020 auction. Most of the donations were earmarked by donors to Joseph Pines Preserve but we had a few that chose to donate to the Endowment, all great areas of need.
The Joseph Pines donations helped us in the purchase of an additional 195 acres in November called the Game Lake Refuge at Joseph Pines Preserve. It took us three years of work to successfully complete the purchase. This new acquisition brings the preserve to over 400 contiguous acres and gives us the largest and best managed native longleaf pine/pitcher plant preserve in Virginia, by far. Thank you for your help. The project was our largest acquisition to date and cost over $500,000. We had several grants helping with the acquisition but we also had to borrow $259K from the Clean Water Fund to complete the deal. We'll be paying that loan off over the next ten years with donations and plant sales.
Have a Happy Holiday and thank you very much for your support.
Phil Sheridan, Ph.D. President and Director Meadowview Biological Research Station
stu: Hi Mike: I’m pleased to report that the S. rubra wherryi Chatom Giant you sent has arrived in great shape as did the bonus plant from NC. Both are now back under southern skies and are feeling warm, humid, and at home again. Thanks!

adaetz100: Sarracenia purpurea tends to add a lot of red/purple to its offspring, but there are some lovely dark red flava x leucophylla crosses too. Look up 'Royal Ruby' if you're not familiar with it already--it's a natural flava x leuco hybrid
