I've always like alatas, but many clones out there are pretty plain or small so I wanted to create a large, dark plant to breed with. So I took a large, proven breeder and crossed it with one of the darker clones around. While the result isn't very dark, I'm pretty thrilled with the size, shape and vigor. I love the wide, peaked lid and the shallow throat the gives this plant a distinctive shape. It's still a few years away from vegetative maturity so we won't know what full size is until then, but it's the largest of the seed batch that I kept, and the most vigorous.
sanguinearocks101: What are good plants to make hybrids with S. luecophylla with? Im looking for dark colors.

adaetz100: Sarracenia purpurea tends to add a lot of red/purple to its offspring, but there are some lovely dark red flava x leucophylla crosses too. Look up 'Royal Ruby' if you're not familiar with it already--it's a natural flava x leuco hybrid
