I know it's probably nowhere near a record, but one of my 20 months seedling is producing its first flower bud. It was in the grow tent, and I brought it outside 2 weeks ago, and it started growing a flower. pretty cool! It's a red moorie. I guess I should cut if off?

8 months from sowing is the fastest that I've ever seen, but that was with in vitro cultures and a lot of expensive, fancy equipment. The first flower, especially when "pushed" like that, rarely can set seed, but it can make a good pollen donor. If you have any other flowers that are opening at the same time, they it's worth keeping, otherwise I'd chop it!

Thanks All my other sarracenias are done blooming and done with it. A bit too late for the rest of the gang. I might just let it mature so that I can see and photograph what the flower looks like and then chop it off.
sanguinearocks101: What are good plants to make hybrids with S. luecophylla with? Im looking for dark colors.

adaetz100: Sarracenia purpurea tends to add a lot of red/purple to its offspring, but there are some lovely dark red flava x leucophylla crosses too. Look up 'Royal Ruby' if you're not familiar with it already--it's a natural flava x leuco hybrid
