Mike King has several plants from Wewahitchka in his collection, and while I have a number of them, none of them come even close to comparing to this one. Yes - this is a greenhouse grown plant, not sure how it performs under non polycarbonate, but enjoy nonetheless. The yellow holds for a little bit, but starts to fade to red as the season progresses.
Dude almightdolla, Shut the front door! HOly MOTHER FATHER! Are you EFFIN KIDDING ME?! SHEWT!!!! Dog-Gone it, gosh darnit, DANG, FULL (aka fool)! My NIZZLE (probably going too far at this point), and any other half buttoxed remixed swear word that is PG-13, where parental guidance is suggested. that's the darkest rubricorpora out there as far as I know, great job!
Seedlings of F124 MK (Don Schnell) x F149 MK of 1 year & 7 months on August 16, 2022. Let's hope that at least one offspring combines the totally dark character of its mother with the vigor and darkness of its father's tube... I am not worried about the current green appearance of the pitchers that appear: the parents make totally green summer pitchers and phyllodes. To be continued…
not the greatest pics, but here's the same clone grown outdoors. It was pretty dark a few weeks ago and for whatever reason, it's not as dark now! The camera totally adulterates the actual color you see in person, the traps appear darker in person, but still not as dark as it was a few weeks ago. It's so weird because before the camera focuses on the trap, the color is spot on correct on the camera screen, but as soon as it's focuses, the color changes! GAH! I've been told that this is what happens with a lot of auto-focus cameras, it brightens up darker colors under certain lighting so that it's easier to see. The trick is to get out there when there's perfect light, but that's hard to do outdoors.
F149 MK; August 18, 2022. After the passage of 3 successive heat waves, some pitchers fried at the lid. Added to this is indigestion linked to the quantity of insects caught. The summer phyllodes as well as the new pitchers are out: green is in order. Young new pitchers resemble shy ornata. The style, too, has become veined, the ovary has swollen, let's hope it's filled with seeds...The harvest will take place in a few weeks.

iona: Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone had extra Pinguicula grandiflora plants or seeds to spare, and they are so difficult to get in the US but think it’d be a great addition to my big garden.
