Greetings everyone and thanks for having me. My name is Jared and I reside in the beautiful area of northeast Tennessee. I am officially obsessed with growing sarracenia and continually building my collection. It all started two years ago when my 3rd grade son had to do a school project on plants or animals that adapt to survive in their environments. I suggested the venus flytrap. Upon adopting one from the local grocery store, I stole it from my boy and immediately began to read up and study carnivorous plants. When I saw the beauty in sarracenia, I was hooked.
I purchased my first plants online from Josh Lynch at www.flytrapking.com. After I realized how expensive it would be to continually feed my obsession with new plants, I thought I'd try my hand at growing sarracenia from seed. In October of 2018 I germinated my first batch of baby sarracenia, about 80 plants! Upon completing that success I've expanded my operation by building a small greenhouse and indoor growing room in my basement. Today I'm happy to say I have about 1000 seedlings that are about 6 months old. What I'm going to do with them all I haven't a clue. But I figured joining this forum would provide me with some much needed knowledge to keep this hobby of mine growing. Thanks y'all.

adaetz100: Sarracenia purpurea tends to add a lot of red/purple to its offspring, but there are some lovely dark red flava x leucophylla crosses too. Look up 'Royal Ruby' if you're not familiar with it already--it's a natural flava x leuco hybrid
