DJ57-great pics and thanks so much for sharing! Don't you just miss those afternoon tropical showers, the evening songs of the cicadas and that thick, humid air that smells like a pristine rainforest? You can't beat native Sarracenia habitat. Well, I could do without those gigantic ticks, constant swarms of biting insects, 102F weather with 95% humidity, keeping alert for crazy super fast venomous snakes hiding pretty much anywhere (even in dark shade)....but the excitement tends to make you forget all that! No idea how Trey is able to escape his family duties for a 4 day getaway in paradise. #temporarilyregrettinghavingakid
Yeah, lets see, the first day out I was stung on the backside by a nasty wasp while snapping a photo of a flava, hurt like hell (swelling lasted until I got home); fire ants bit up my feet and ankles, also hurt like hell, and left blisters; I got a tick bite; and I got a nasty butt rash from squatting in the wrong place (drank lots of water, no bathrooms out there)...but I would do it all again in a heartbeat!! The heat and humidity were awful, but hard to be bothered much by it or the bugs with the scenery that was before me, ha! Excitement is an understatement. Surprisingly, we did not get rained on while out in the bogs, sprinkled on a bit is all. Oh, and I fell in a water hole to my waist and needed help getting out, haha. I had a hard time keeping up with the guys, but I think I did pretty good for an old lady! Awesome trip with awesome people and I had an absolute blast.
