It has to be my mom was watching my daughter and said they were fine at 2 so it happened between 2 and 6.
I really hope they make it I seen 2 of the three sarracenia flowers didn't break so that's awesome. Was planning on crossing the 2 that didn't break. So it could be worse. Need to get my water table finish asap.
Damn jwalker! Very sorry to see that destruction!! They will bounce back. It's early in the season yet so they have a lot of growing to do. gotsarrs looking great! Did that excellens come from me too? Love to see things of mine getting into circulation and causing mass enjoyment! Look at te red in that flava! Still waiting for mine to pitcher...
Hi Calen, Yeah the Excellens came from you also. I'm really liking that one too! It's big and colorful and looks like it's wearing lipstick once the pitchers open and color up. That Cuprea Chocolate Top x Rubricorpora is really something though. To be honest, I didn't think too much of it when I first got it from you at the end of last October. It was kind of dull and plain looking. I figured what the hell I'll give it a chance and potted it up. When it broke dormancy this year it put up a couple of traps that looked like a Rubricorpora but the lids were the same color as the tubes. As the days went by the throats get darker and darker and after about two weeks the traps were solid dark red. I can't wait to see how it progresses.
jwalker. I have a pretty nice little collection of basic drosera seed. If you are interested I can set you up with some. Mostly South African, and some North American. PM me if that's something you are interested in.
YEAH BUDDY!! lol. You guys are all sharing your beautiful plants, and I'm through the roof because I have one open pitcher finally. At least one that I can say I grew. My areolata x op I got from Calen last fall.
I don't Evan know what to do all my seeds pots are done.
This is why I slowed down on my Nepenthes collection storm picked up my crappie green house and launched all my plants into the golf course. What plants are you missing jwalker I can see maybe what I have? I feel you anger and pain.
jwalker glad to see you pieced things back together - something tells me you'll be adding more non-storm-tossed plants to your collection this year as well gotsarrs glad you gave it a chance! I try not to send people lame stuff Those were all looking extremely colorful in the first half of the season (cuprea x rubri crosses often turn out with the best of both parents and an "atropurpurea" look) but then they got a little crowded in their community tub and were looking sub-par color-wise by fall due to the mutual shading. I could never have enough space to grow every plant optimally which is why I am very happy to see others babying them to perfection! Looking good boarderlib - and judging by the amount of leuco and alata in that plant it should look even better later in the season!

calen , did that excellens come from me? If so tell gotsarrs to give it back to me!

Calen, Oh, I know you don't send lame stuff. All the plants I've gotten from you have been top notch. I knew that plant was still small and it was the end of Oct. when you gave it to me so I also knew that it must have already started dormancy for you. This all led me to not judge the book by it's cover so to speak. I just had no idea how nice it would turn out. It was like a caterpillar pupating into a beautiful butterfly.
Thank you for your generosity!

mikee: Thanks you chofah, there is a great video from The Pitcher Project with Phil Faulisi this was what I was looking for. However it still appears to be wait and see what results come from the cross. Many thanks

Willy: It would be rather silly to expect totally predictable results from a cross. The individual plants grown from the seeds will vary, sometimes quite a bit, even with carefully protected hand pollination. If you open polinate, the variety may be even greater.

stu: Hi Mike: I’m pleased to report that the S. rubra wherryi Chatom Giant you sent has arrived in great shape as did the bonus plant from NC. Both are now back under southern skies and are feeling warm, humid, and at home again. Thanks!

sanguinearocks101: What are good plants to make hybrids with S. luecophylla with? Im looking for dark colors.
Sept 10, 2020 18:46:52 GMT -5
adaetz100: Sarracenia purpurea tends to add a lot of red/purple to its offspring, but there are some lovely dark red flava x leucophylla crosses too. Look up 'Royal Ruby' if you're not familiar with it already--it's a natural flava x leuco hybrid
