The Project For Awesome - P4A
The very first Project for Awesome was organized in 2007, and has been held every year since. Starting in 2014, Project For Awesome has changed dates, now occurring annually on the second Friday & Saturday of December, which this year is December 12-13. During Project for Awesome, thousands of people post videos about and advocating for charities that decrease the overall level of world suck!
The Nerdfighter community then promotes these videos and raise money for the charities. In 2013, the community raised over $850,000, benefitting twenty charities. Legally speaking, the Project for Awesome is a project of the Foundation to Decrease World Suck, Inc. a Montana based 501(c)3 charitable organization.
The charities that do get donations are chosen by the nerdfighter community, by way of vote on the project for awesome website. Donations will go to community chosen organizations, based on votes on the Project For Awesome website. (This is, however, subject to the approval of the board of directors of the Foundation to Decrease World Suck, partly because the law is complex and partly to prevent a trolling group from coming in and hijacking the vote.) Here is their website:

So let us PARTICIPATE by making a video. I am starting this early because I want our video to support a charity we can all get behind, and I want the quality to be awesome. Even if we are unable to get a top spot in the voting, we will still be producing a video to support our charity, which hundreds (maybe thousands?) of people will see.
I also wanted this to be the start of the OFFICIAL The Sarracenia Forum Youtube Channel toward the end of this year.
If our little Sarracenia community decides to participate we will have a lot of work on our hands. We will
1. Need to choose a charity organization to promote
2. Need to create a script for the video
-This will include watching many other environmental p4a videos and perhaps getting ideas on what we can do based on what worked well in the past
3. Need to get volunteers to record the video and have someone edit it to make it awesome.
4. Upload the video to youtube during the P4A 2015, which is the second weekend in December, and have members on the forum, and their friends vote for the charity we chose, on the P4A website
5. Enjoy the fact that we made something awesome!
Feel free to discuss. Should we do this. Any questions about the Project For Awesome? The Foundation to Decrease WorldSuck Inc? Nerdfighters? John and Hank Green?
Lets us know. I am very interested in making our forum a platform where we spread our love and knowledge of Sarracenia, through education, and social media, to people who may know little or nothing about this topic.
