Hey folks,
I recently got an invite to the 2nd ever Southeastern Carnivorous Plant Society meeting being held on November 4, 2017, in Athens GA. I'm not involved in the group but am planning to go. Thought others might be interested.
Here's the event on Facebook:

For those who don't do Facebook, here are the details from the event page:
"Hi folks!
It's with extreme happiness that I am announcing the 2nd Inaugural Meeting of the Southeastern Carnivorous Plant Society!
What's that? The SECPS is a brand-new plant society dedicated to the hobby of growing and enjoying carnivorous plants. It coalesced in August 2017, and the first meeting took place at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens in Alabama. This meeting will be the first-ever meeting in Georgia!
Are there dues? Nope. Membership and attendance are completely free and voluntary. We'd love to have you, even if you have no experience and want to learn more about CPs.
When? Saturday, November 4th, from 2-4PM
Where? The UGA Plant Biology Greenhouses, 115 Riverbend Road, Athens GA 30602. Parking is free!
What we will do at the meeting?
This meeting's agenda will include:
- Fun Stuff: Kevin Tarner will be presenting a tour of the UGA Plant Biology teaching collection, which features carnivorous plants as well as many other exotic tropical plants. If you've never seen it before, you're in for a treat!
- Research: Mason McNair, UGA Plant Biology graduate student, will be presenting his lab's research on Sarracenia
- Strategic Planning: As SECPS is brand new, we will be reviewing and discussing a long-term mission, organization, and plan for this society as well as developing ideas for a mailing list, website, logo, etc.
- Show and Tell: Participants are encouraged to bring their own personal carnivorous plants for a brief show-and-tell
- Buy/Sell/Trade/Giveaway: We will hold an informal buy/sell/trade/donate at the end of this meeting. Any plants you would like to bring for this, please announce on the facebook event page or SECPS page.
- Plant Donations to Teaching Collection: The Plant Biology Greenhouse gets no budget for plant acquisition for the teaching collection. The plants you will see were collected only through trading and kind donations. If there is anything you might be willing to donate in exchange for hosting this meeting, we would be very appreciative! We are more than happy to provide divisions, cuttings, and seed from many plants here--just ask!"
